Vision and
eye care

Screening, spectacles and cataract support, for people who have simply never been checked.

Become knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness.

Helen Keller, to the Lions convention, 1925

A large share of vision loss in India is preventable or correctable. What stops people is not medicine, but access, cost, and never having been checked.

What we do

  1. Screening camps

We set up in schools, community halls and apartment complexes across Konankunte and screen anyone who walks in. No charge, no paperwork.

  2. Spectacles

Where the answer is a pair of glasses, we arrange them for people who cannot afford them.

  3. Cataract surgery support

Where surgery is needed, we refer to partner hospitals and support the cost for those who need help with it.

  4. School screening

Children rarely know their vision is poor; they assume the board is meant to look like that. Catching it early means a child who can see the board, and so can learn.

Our work so far

Lions Club Konankunte is compiling the dated record: how many eyes were tested, and how many pairs of spectacles went out. It will be published here, counted and correct, rather than estimated.

The next camp

Volunteer at the next eye camp.

Dates are set a few weeks ahead. Ring the club and we will tell you when and where the next one is.
